The Rundown – Week in Review

It’s been a wonderful week in our home.  Hubby and I started our week celebrating thirteen years of marriage.  We spent our anniversary date night enjoying some of our favorite things:  sushi, sunset at the beach, and coffee.  Favorites with my favorite always make for a great night.

Our Letter of the Week time is flying by.  I can’t believe Letter T is here!  Prissy’s had a good week with Letter T.  She worked on prewriting by making letters with Play Doh and Handwriting Without Tears Wooden Letters.  She also worked through some pages from our favorite printable packs and made a pretty adorable tiger to finish out her week.

The highlight of The Boy’s week was the Robotics for Kids program he attended through our local library.  It’s been years since we covered this type of science in our homeschool and he absolutely loved it.  While we’ve enjoyed our focus on earth science and biology, our time at Robotics for Kids showed me that he’s going to love digging into the chemistry and physics concentration planned for the upcoming year.

Speaking of libraries, now is the time to see what’s going on at your local library this summer.  Most libraries, even small-town branches like ours, plan summer programs and activities for kids of all ages.  The best part is that these programs are usually offered free of charge.  For example, I’ve learned that Sylvan Learning is partnering with our library to provide STEM programs on a weekly basis this summer.  Between STEM and the preschool story times for Prissy, libraries are filling up our calendar quickly.

 When Pie Makes You Cry

It’s been years since I’ve made this Strawberry Pie from Taste of Home, but all the talk about strawberries from last week made me nostalgic and I pulled it from my recipe box.  Apparently we missed it more than we knew.  I made it on Monday and it was gone so quickly that an unnamed person in my house shed tears over not getting a piece.  No kidding.  We can’t have hearts broken over pie, right?  I had enough ingredients left to make a second one; all is well now.

But enough about us … how has your week been?
