*I received a complimentary copy of this title for review purposes. See my disclosure for details.*
Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2022 (1/28/22) is in its 9th year! This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.
This year’s MCBD book fun connected me to TimTimTom and I am SO excited to tell you about this fantastic publisher.
MULTICULTURAL CHILDREN’S BOOK DAY 2022: Personalized Children’s Books with TimTimTom
I usually focus on a particular book when I talk about what we’re reading for Multicultural Children’s Book Day. This year is different because TimTimTom is more than a single book, it’s an opportunity for kids to truly see themselves in a fun story. Learn more about why this representation matters here.
To begin their personalization process, you choose the book you’d like to personalize, select one or two languages for your book, and the format. There are currently three story options; I chose Underwater Adventure, but there are also stories about dancing and soccer.
Next, you enter your child’s name to be used in the story. You also select hair and skin tone and choose the desired languages at this point. I selected English for my copy, but you can also have the books printed in the following languages:
- Chinese (traditional or simplified)
- Dutch
- English (United States or UK)
- French
- German
- Italian
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish
This is a fantastic resource for dual language books. If you’re looking for ways to build a home library with language diversity, this is a fun way to do so!
Lastly, you write a personalized message to appear at the front of the book before the story begins. This could be a note of encouragement, a gift inscription, or anything you’d like to include in the book. After entering all the personalization details, you simply place your order and wait for your personalized children’s book to arrive.
I selected the Underwater Adventure story and personalized the book with my niece in mind. Now that I received her personalized story and have read through it, I am SO excited to send it to her as a fun surprise. I know she’ll love seeing herself as a character in this story!
