Book Review: Money-Making Mom by Crystal Paine

Futile.  Ineffective.  Impossible.  All of those words describe how I’ve felt at times when it comes to contributing to my family financially.  As a wife and mother in a homeschool family, I’m honored to serve my family in lots of other ways, but yeah, helping financially hasn’t seemed like something I can do.  Enter the Money Saving Mom, Crystal Paine.

I’ve frequented Crystal’s site for years and loved reading Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, but I never imagined how her latest book, Money-Making Mom, would equip and inspire me to make a difference for my family and the world around me.

About Money-Making Mom

The focus is on giving more, not having more

This is perhaps my favorite thing about Money-Making Mom.  Crystal’s message in this book isn’t how to make money so that you can have more stuff, bigger stuff, or more expensive stuff.  It’s about working towards personal financially stability so that you’re in a better position to help others.  It’s hard to give generously when you simply don’t have it to give.  The heart of Money-Making Mom is helping you find your way to financial freedom so that you can make a difference in this world.

It’s chockfull of wisdom and practical suggestions

I love that Crystal gives practical suggestions and executable ideas for finding work, building a business, and establishing income.  This book is not only for people who have a specific skill set or a business-savvy educational background.  This book is for all of us because we all have something to give that’s ours and ours alone.  Helping you evaluate your gifts and determine how those gifts can bring income is just one of the things Money-Making Mom brings to the table.

In addition to practical suggestions for getting started, I love that Money-Making Mom is full of wisdom and information from someone who has been there and done that.   Closing in on my first year of blogging, I’m well aware that I’ve still got tons to learn and that growth and change are an ongoing part of this process.  Crystal’s experience and words of advice have been affirming and enlightening.  I’ve made page after page of notes and I’ll gladly soak in her wisdom!

Don’t think for a moment that all of this is about blogging, though.  While blogging is referenced in Money-Making Mom, Crystal’s experience and wisdom goes far beyond that.  She offers insight and suggestions that are helpful for anyone, in any situation – work from home, brick and mortar business, you name it.

It’s encouraging and inspiring on so many levels!

I posted on my Instagram that Crystal has basically become my life coach and I’m not even kidding!  I’ve been so blessed by Crystal’s encouragement in Money-Making Mom.  I could show you pages and pages of the notes I took because Crystals words were the exact affirmation and focus I needed.
