Art has always been an important part of our homeschool despite the fact that my own artistic ventures as a child and teen only involved crayons and paper.
Even so, I started piecing together homeschool art options because both of my kids loved experimenting with different mediums from an early age.
*This post contains referral links. Also, I received free access to Masterpiece Society Studio for review purposes, but I sincerely adore these workshops and am thrilled to share them with you.*
I love the thrill of the hunt as much as the next person. I’ve shared how to teach artist study and how to teach art appreciation without a curriculum. I sincerely believe these can be done and done well, but I also acknowledge how difficult it is to teach art techniques and fundamentals when you never learned them. I understand how difficult it is to demonstrate how to form specific lines, swishes, and strokes.
Those fundamentals and swishes can be intimidating to those of us who haven’t been creating all our lives, but the good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way for our kids. Our kids never have to be limited the same ways many of us were. Isn’t that a relief?
A Solution for Homeschool Art
Our kids don’t have be limited when it comes to homeschool art because there are tons of great resources available to us all. While we’ve certainly tried our fair share over the years, our absolute favorites are the mixed media workshops from Masterpiece Society.
Through these workshops, we’ve been able to practice with different mediums, learn more about master artists, gain confidence, and spur creativity. For sure, these workshops have been much more than a way for us to mark art off our to-do lists each week. They’ve been a way for us to challenge ourselves, to try hard things, and grow.
Notice that I continue to say “we.” That’s because I’ve grown through these workshops as much as my kids have. That growth is exactly why I want you to know about Masterpiece Society Studio.
Masterpiece Society Studio: The Homeschool Art Instruction You Need All in One Place
In the past, we’ve accessed all of our mixed media workshops individually. Now these workshops are also grouped together in one place: Masterpiece Society Studio.
The cool thing about the Studio is that it’s a membership site rather than one specific workshop. That means membership includes access to the student video workshops, plus lots of new offerings that aren’t available elsewhere.
Here’s a quick look at what’s included:
1. Art School
These lessons provide video instruction in drawing, watercolors, acrylics & oils, and pastels. Put simply, the fundamentals of art are covered through Art School.
2. Lessons for the Littles
This component of Masterpiece Society Studio includes step-by-step lessons and coloring pages for early elementary students and younger siblings who may not be ready for the more detailed projects.
3. Holiday Art Projects
Art is a wonderful way to celebrate holidays and Studio membership provides new project ideas for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more.
4. Seasonal Mixed Media Workshops
We’ve done projects from all of these seasonal mixed media workshops and we can’t pick a favorite. They’re all amazing and being able to access all of them in one place is definitely incentive to have a Studio membership!
5. Mixing with the Masters
Hands down, these workshops on the master artists are our absolute favorite way to make homeschool art study come alive. They’re a great way to learn about major contributors in the world of art, but also create beautiful pieces inspired by those master artists.
6. Playful Pet Portraits
The colorful and fun lessons from the Playful Pet Portraits workshop are also included in Studio membership. My kiddos are both animal lovers, so they love these pet-inspired projects.
7. Create and Connect
I can’t wait to get started on the Create and Connect lessons. These are just for the moms and are a wonderful way to model growth and creativity to our children.
Between the mixed media workshops, art school, and the create and connect lessons, there’s no better solution for homeschool art. Masterpiece Society Studio truly provides everything you need in one place.
