We steer clear of the internet for the bulk of our homeschooling time, but I’ve learned through the years that it helps tremendously to utilize online homeschool curriculum for some subjects. Language arts is one of those areas for my family.

I love language arts and I love the idea of teaching language arts to my kids, but they have different personalities and learning styles. That’s why I’ve found myself perusing the online homeschool curriculum options from Homeschool Buyers Co-op for as long as I can remember.

Approaching Language Arts with an Online Homeschool Curriculum
Maybe you’re considering online homeschool curriculum for language arts because your child needs help that you can’t provide and outsourcing this subject is the best solution. Maybe using an online curriculum in this one area would help you better manage your time as a homeschooling parent.
Perhaps you’re even considering an online approach for language arts because it would give your kiddo experience working with technology. Regardless of why you’re looking for online help with language arts, I’m excited to share some of my favorite picks from Homeschool Buyers Co-op. Let’s take a look:
Online Homeschool Curriculum Options for Language Arts
1. Phonics.
When it comes to phonics, Reading Eggs is the first online homeschool curriculum that comes to mind. This program is a fun and engaging way for kids ages 4-8 to master reading skills through animated, game-like lessons.
While you could easily say Reading Eggs is just a chance for kids to play games, I can vouch for its effectiveness. My youngest has been working through the curriculum in recent months and I can see great improvement in her reading skills and her confidence. I believe in Reading Eggs!
In addition to the option to purchase a one year subscription to Reading Eggs through Homeschool Buyers Co-op, you can bundle the Reading Eggs subscription with Math Seeds and save 46% off retail price. Also worth noting, my daughter loves both of these programs. No kidding, she asks to do them nearly every day of the week!
Reading Eggs is my favorite online homeschool curriculum option for phonics, but you can also find well-loved programs like Explode the Code Online, Headsprout, and ClickN Read through Homeschool Buyers Co-op. Regardless of what kind of phonics help you need, you’ve got great options through the Co-op!
2. Reading
Perhaps your kiddos are beyond phonics, but you want to help them continue to build reading skills and foster a love for reading. Believe it or not, that can also happen through online options!
Dr. Seuss & Friends Online Streaming provides access to more than 500 reading-themed videos for kids of all ages. Similarly, LeVar Burton’s Skybrary offers educational videos that pair with a huge collection of digital books to help kids build reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
Homeschool Buyers Co-op also offers Readorium for grades 3-8. This homeschool curriculum is different from the other reading options because it focuses on building nonfiction reading skills through science-based content. It’s definitely an option to consider if video-based online reading reinforcement isn’t a good match for your child.
3. Grammar
Need help explaining foundational grammar principles to your child? An online homeschool curriculum like Grammaropolis could be a great solution. This is a program for grades 1-7 and it explains concepts like parts of speech and punctuation through a fun story-based approach.
Homeschooling older students? You can also find EGUMPP through Homeschool Buyers Co-op. EGUMPP (English Grammar Usage Mechanics Punctuation Program) is a self-paced curriculum for grades 7-12 that provides a solid grammar foundation in grammar, usage, and mechanics.
4. Vocabulary
I love the idea of incorporating vocabulary into our homeschool days through an online homeschool curriculum like Wordly Wise 3000. This vocabulary curriculum is for grades 2-12 and covers the same content as the printed versions of the well-known Wordly Wise curriculum.
In addition to Wordly Wise, Homeschool Buyers Co-op offers great savings on online vocabulary curriculum like Word Voyage, WordSmart, and Membean Vocabulary.
5. Writing
Lastly, you can also approach writing online through Homeschool Buyers Co-op. Captivation Station is a digital writing curriculum for 3rd-5th grades. This unique curriculum provides students with short step-by-step instructional videos, a platform to share completed writing assignments, and an opportunity to give and receive feedback from other students.
