I don’t usually have a hard time making time to read, but last month was something else! I’m still working through a few of my books from last month’s list: One Thousand Gifts, Cold Sassy Tree, and The Magician’s Nephew.
I’m loving One Thousand Gifts, but there’s just so much to it that I can’t devour it all in one setting. I’ve been reading about a chapter or two a week and it takes me several days just to let it all sink in. Ann Voskamp’s writing is very different from what I’m usually reading. Different, but so worth it. I don’t mind being in this book longer than planned.
I’m also enjoying Cold Sassy Tree, but am having to read it in snippets. I have no idea why, but I imagine The Pioneer Woman when I’m reading about Miss Love and the crazy grandfather from the Rugrats cartoon for Mr. Blakeslee. I’ve never said I didn’t have a little bit of crazy in me…
As for my last remaining book on the list, I’ve read The Magician’s Nephew before and we’re reading it as a read-aloud in our homeschool right now. It’s taken us a bit to get there, but we’re finally to the point where Aslan enters the scene. I don’t expect it to take much longer now. After all, Aslan is why the story exists.
Even though I’ve got some leftovers to work on, I’ve gathered up my February additions and look forward to diving in. Here’s what’s on my shelf for this month:
