Ready or not, summer is here and it’s time to take a look at some reading goals.  I’m not proud of it, but I’m horribly behind on my Goodreads goal of fifty books for 2016.  With the arrival of summer and a lighter homeschool schedule, I plan to do some catching up.

That said, I’m reading what I want to read this summer.  I’m not reading any books for publishers or launch teams.  I’m catching up by reading what I want and when I want.  Here’s a look at my summer reading list:

Summer Reading List

1. A Million Little Ways by Emily P. Freeman – After reading Simply Tuesday a few months back, I can straight-up say that Emily P. Freeman speaks to my soul.  I’ll gladly take more of her gift in my life.

2. Delight Directed Learning by Lee Binz – I’m not planning to read much about homeschooling or educational theory during these summer months, but this one’s on my summer reading list because it’s a topic that interests me and I want to put some parameters around it.

3. Journey’s End by Renee Ryan – I scored this one for free recently through an Amazon promotion. I don’t know much about it, but I’ve always enjoyed historical fiction and decided to give it a try.

4. Scheduling: The Secret to Homeschool Sanity by Lee Binz – As stated above, I’m intentionally not reading a ton of homeschool books over the summer.  This one also gets a pass since it’s from the Coffee Break Books series.

5. The Missing Ingredient by Diane Noble – I don’t read this kind of book too often, but I’ve read several from this series before and enjoyed them all.  Sometimes it’s nice to have a book that doesn’t make your brain hurt, require you to act on anything, or challenge you.  Sometimes you just need a clean, fun read.  That’s where this book comes in.

6. All Right Here by Carre Armstrong Gardner –  I’ve this book in my Kindle cloud for more than a year.  I noticed it as I was looking for another title and decided it looks like a great summer read.

7. Woman of Courage by Wanda Brunstetter – I’ve read my share of Wanda Brunstetter’s books through the years and (yikes) stopped for a while because the plots were fairly similar.  Even so, this one caught my attention while I was browsing the Christian fiction at my library.  It definitely looks like a departure from Brunstetter’s usual Amish fiction storyline.

8. Give Your Child the World  by Jamie C. Martin – I’ve been reading great things about this book over the last few weeks and can’t wait to check it out!  It has undeniable homeschooling focus, but I want it on my list nonetheless.

9. Teaching in Your Tiara by Rebecca Frech – You know how you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover? Sometimes I do it anyway and end up with books like this on my list.  (The goal was to not saturate my reading list with all things homeschool; therefore, there’s room on the list for this one, too.)

10. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling – I’ve read this one several times before, but I’ve been slowly working my way back through the series over the last year. I’m not even sure where I left off in my HP readings, but this will be my next stop.

I’ve got a few more that have been on my radar for a while and I might add them to my reading list if I notice them on sale over the summer months.  Loving My Actual Life, Partners in Planting, and The Nesting Place might make it to my Kindle before it’s all over with, but I can’t say for sure.
